Campaign Kick-off for Dr. Liang Chao and Dr. Gregory Anderson

The following message has been posted on numerous community boards and social media sites:

Dear friends and parents,

We need a strong, independent Cupertino Union School Board to oversee sound decisions based on responsible planning, transparency and integrity. The past few years have underscored the need for change in CUSD; this year’s November election is critical to the future of our schools and community.

We are fortunate to have two of our best leaders with stellar records in education, technology, and community service step up and offer to serve our schools on the Board: Dr. Liang Chao and Dr. Gregory Anderson.

You’re invited to a Campaign Kickoff Celebration for them on Sunday, August 21 at 2:30 pm. Come meet the candidates, and invite others. The event is free, and light refreshments will be served.

About the candidates:
Dr. Liang Chao is a mother raising two children with her husband, Weixun Cao, in Cupertino. Both children attend Cupertino schools. Originally from Taiwan, she understands our diverse community in Cupertino. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Princeton University, and has taught at the university level in the U.S. and Germany, before moving into industry work for 18+ years. She now devotes her time to education and community issues.

Dr. Gregory Anderson is also the father of two children, along with his wife Yuki in Cupertino. Both of his children attend Cupertino schools. He is the Vice President of Instruction at a local community college. Gregory has 30 years of experience around the world as a teacher and administrator from preschool, K-12, community college, and PhD levels. He holds a master’s in teaching and a doctorate in education.

Together, they have the knowledge and dedication to ensure thoughtful, effective, accountable, and inspiring leadership.
